"Playlist of My Life"

Music possesses a unique power to stir our souls in a way that nothing else can. It has the ability to evoke a wide range of emotions, with different genres and melodies tapping into various feelings within us. Music has this remarkable capacity to act as a time machine, whisking us away to moments long past, triggering feelings of joy, spirituality, and both happy and melancholic memories. Even unfamiliar tunes can wield a profound influence on our emotional state.

Recently, I had the pleasure of attending yet another Earth, Wind and Fire concert, marking my fifth time in the last three decades, always in the company of my same dear friends. It was an absolute blast, and the experience prompted me to contemplate the significance of music in shaping our mental and emotional well-being.

This led me to formulate an idea I'll call the "Playlist of My Life." When I consider my eventual journey towards the end of life or find myself grappling with stressful situations, I have a clear understanding of which songs will provide comfort and transport me to a better place.

However, does my family know?

Talking about the music, the specific songs, and the artists that I have on my "Playlist of My Life" presents an opportunity for gentle and non-threatening conversations about my preferences for end-of-life care.

Talking about the “Playlist of My Life” offers an alternative means to bring up the topic of end-of-life wishes with those who matter most in our lives, fostering a sense of comfort and understanding amidst what can be a delicate subject.
